BLOCK, United Welsh partnership: summer 2016
NoFit State Circus teamed up with Caerphilly-based housing association, United Welsh to bring some special performances and workshops to Bryn Aber, Lansbury Park, Aberbargoed and Tredegar during the summer of 2016.
Over the 5 week summer holidays NoFit State delivered weekly acrobatics and parkour workshops for local residents, showing them how to perform skills from the show newly developed outdoor show BLOCK, a collaboration between NoFit State Circus and Motionhouse Dance.
The workshops lead up to performances of BLOCK in the local communities as a part of the shows national tour. Giving locals a chance to see the skills they had learnt as part of the show, with some children even getting the chance to show off their new skills by taking part in the performances.
This project and partnership between NoFit State and United Welsh Housing was awarded the Arts, Business & the Community award by Arts & Business Cymru. As it made an outstanding example of how a partnership between and arts and business organisation can bring tangible benefits to the community.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without support from United Welsh and the Arts & Business Cymru CultureStep fund.
