Syrcas Stwinsh is a 6 week programme of accessible welsh language youth circus classes delivered digitally to the most remote parts of Wales.
The programme is designed for children and young people aged 5-16 in Wales who face geographical barriers to participating in circus. Giving them the opportunity to try circus for the first time whilst practising and improving their Welsh language skills. The online classes are built to be accessible and will be tailored to the needs of the group in the level of circus, Welsh language proficiency and age.
The project begins in October 2020 with schools, organisations and community hubs in Wales who serve children who are unable to participate in circus due to their remote location being invited to participate in the first 6 week programme completely free, thanks to the support of the Arts Council of Wales. Children can join the classes from their homes if their home-county is in lockdown, or from a ‘bubble’ in their local school, community centre or similar.
Access to an internet connection and electronic device (computer, laptop or a tablet) are needed to take part in the live online classes, but support will be provided wherever possible for organisations or participants who need extra digital support to enable them to take part.
Applications to take part in the programme are currently being accepted, applications received before 12th October will have a better chance of being accepted onto the programme as there is limited availability.
